10. HE WOULD NOT MISS YOU IN A MILLION

On one occasion, I was standing in the furthermost row at a crowded Sakinabensaab (Charni Road). He just couldn’t have seen me. Interestingly, one of the things that I did pick up was Moulana turning in my direction and saying “Ben Sugra aave chhey”.
What does one make of it? Nothing. Because there are hundreds of other mumineen. Because he must have been telling someone else. Because I wasn’t near him at all. And then he turned, our eyes met for just a moment and he acknowledged…with his brow and lift of the eye. And then it struck me … my bhabhi Sugra was landing in Bombay from Colombo that day!
A few questions here: How did Moulana know that my bhabhi – of all persons - was coming from Colombo? Even
if somebody told him, how did he remember? Even if he did remember, how could he connect it to someone
standing almost anonymously in the thick crowd? Even if he could connect it, how did he remember just at that
point when there were hundreds demanding his attention?
Such was the man!
